I called to set up an appointment. The desk clerk said Dr. porter was booked up for the day but could see me the next morning. I was fine with that but then was asked about my symptoms. "Lower back pain", I replied and was then told that Dr. Porter no longer gives out prescriptions. What an odd reply? I am in pain and wanted to be seen by the doctor. Also once they found out I hadn't been seen in over a year that I would be treated like a new patient and could not been seen until August. I am disappointed in the treatment I received and no longer recommend Dr. Porter. Is she under investigation?
It does take a while to get in as a new patient. But, because she is well liked and very booked.
My husband is an OTR semi driver who is home approximately once every 6-8 weeks and it is very difficult for him to meet with a doctor. We had all his records and lab work sent to this office and they arrived on 8-26 by his previous doctors. When we got there and asked to make sure the records would be available to the new doctor. The office person said "I don't know if they are here". So my husband had no info given to his new doctor when he came for this appointment. When we got ready to leave the office person slammed all his records on the counter at us and said here! After we had to ask her to please check for them. All she said was she had them but no file to put them in. He was on the books with a scheduled appointment to see Dr. Porter yesterday, but she had nowhere to put his files. Very incompetent and very rude office staff.
I have 2 ratings for this practice. For Dr. Bell it is EXCELLENT. He is very thorough. Doesn't beat around the bush, very forward and doesn't keep you waiting long. He doesn't rush to get out the door and takes his time explaining to you what's going on. He also takes into consideration whether you have insurance or not. Explains to you what you were charged.
*Note: I have happily paid up to $200 for Dr. Bells services but the fact is that when you feel you have been properly seen and considered by a Dr. price does not matter. Paying almost $100 for a less than 5 minutes check up however is a bit ridiculous.
For Dr. Steele, it is Poor-Fair quality. Though I waited one hour for service, I was only seen for 5 minutes before he rushed out the door. Didn't completely answer all of my questions. Didn't even tell me the result of my symptoms. For a total of 2 minutes and a written prescription that might have taken him one minute I was charged $92, which I would have happily paid if I was given proper service.
worst business practice ever- was just told I had been discharged as a member, after having an appointment scheduled for today for over two weeks, without the courtesy of a phone call to let me know. Also, my family has been and continues to be patients, meaning my husband and child, who are under my insurance. So how is it possible that I could be discharged when I haven't been there since 2011. Not only that no one would tell me over the phone other than I should have received a letter in 2011, and that they would resend me a letter....had been with Dr. Steele when I needed to be seen for 15+ years. They certainly aren't what they once were. If you haven't been here before - go elsewhere
Dr. Porter is probably one of the best Dr.s I have ever seen in being thorough and not rushing you through. Very compassionate and patient.
